Confined Spaces
OSHA considers a space to be confined if it meets all of the following criteria:
- The space is large enough for an employee to enter and perform work.
 - It has limited entry and exit.
 - It is not designed for continuous employee occupancy,
 
Permit Required Confined Spaces
A confined space requires a permit for entry if the space has any of the following:
- A hazardous atmosphere or the potential for a hazardous atmosphere.
 - A possibility of engulfment.
 - Has a hazardous configuration.
 - Contains any other recognized serious safety or health hazard.
