Process Safety Management of Highly Hazardous Chemicals - 1910.119

  • Every employees involved with operating a process must be trained in an overview of the process and in the operating procedures. 1910.119(g)(1)(i)

Temporary Labor Camps - 1910.142

Specifications for Accident Prevention Signs and Tags - 1910.145

  • All employees will be instructed that danger signs indicate immediate danger and special precautions are necessary. 1910.145 (c)(1)

Fire Protection - 1910.155

  • "Training" means making proficent through instruction and hands-on practice in the operation of equipment, including respiratory protection. 1910.155 (c)(41)

Fire Brigades - 1910.156

  • Training will be provided prior to performing duties. It will cover all duties and functions that the fire brigade member is expected to perform. Trainers and leaders will receive more comprehensive training. 1910.1456 (c)(1)
  • Training will be done at least annually. Those who perform interior structural firefighting will be trained at least quarterly. 1910.156 (c)(2)
  • Training will be comperable to fire training schools. 1910.156 (c)(3)

Portable Fire Extinguishers - 1910.157

Overhead & Gantry Cranes - 1910.179

Subpart O - Machinery and Machine Guarding

Mechanical Power Presses - 1910.217

  • The employer will ensure original and continuing competance of employees caring for, inspecting and maintenance of power presses. 1910.217 (e)(3)
  • Employer will train and instruct the operator in the safe work method prior to starting work. 1910.217 (f)(2)
  • Training will be provided prior to inital work on press and not less than annually thereafter. Training for presses used in the PSDI mode will contain: 1910.217 (h)(13)(i)

Subpart Q Welding, Cutting, and Brazing

General Requirements - 1910.252

  • [Managment] will insist that cutters or welders and their supervisors are suitably trained in the safe operation of their equipment and the safe use of the process. 1910.252 (a)(2)(xiii)(C)

Oxygen-Fuel Gas Welding and Cutting - 1910.253

  • Workers will be instructed and judged competent by their employers for this important work before being left in charge. Rules and instructions covering this operation and maintenance will be readily available. 1910.253 (a)(4)

Arc Welding and Cutting - 1910.254

  • Employees designated to operate arc welding equipment will be properly instructed and qualified to operate such equipment. 1910.254 (a)(3)

Resistance Welding - 1910.255

  • Employees designated to operate resistance welding equipment will be properly instructed and juged competent to operate such equipment. 1910.255 (a)(3)

Subpart R - Special Industries

Pulp, Paper, and Paperboard Mills - 1910.261

  • Gas masks capable of absorbing chlorine will be supplied,   conveniently   placed, and regularly inspected. Workers who may be exposed to chlorine gas will be instructed in their use. 1910.261 (h)(3)(ii)

 

Laundry Machinery & Operating Rules - 1910.264

  • Employees will be properly instructed of the hazards, and safe practices by bulletins, printed rules, and verbal instructions. 1910.264 (d)(1)(v)

Logging - 1910.266

  • At a minimum training shall consist of: 1910266 (i)(3)
    • Safe performance of assigned work tasks. 1910.266 (i)(3)(i)
    • Safe use, operation, and maintenance of tools, machines, and vehicles the employee operates, with special emphasis on manufacturer's operating and maintenance instructions. 1910.266 (i)(3)(i)

  • Each employee who is required to be trained, will work under close supervision of a designated person until they demonstrate the ability to safely perform the new duties independently. 1910.266 (i)(6)
  • Employer will ensure that each employee including supervisors, receives first-aid and CPR training. 1910.266 (i)(7)(i)
  • Employer will ensure that each employee receives first-aid training at least every 3 years, and CPR training annually. 1910.266 (I)(7)(ii)
  • All employees CPR/first-aid training will remain current. 1910.266 (i)(7)(iii)

 

Telecommunications - 1910.268

  • Employees assigned to work with storage batteries will be instructed in emergency procedures such as dealing with accidental acid spills. 1910.268 (b)(2)(i)
  • Employees will not engage in work until trained unless the employer can prove the employee has been trained, they do not have to engage in training. Where training is required, it will consist of on-the-job training or classroom-type training or a combination of both. Training will consist of: 1910.268 (c)
    • Recognition and avoidence of dangers relating to encounters with harmful substances and animal, insect or plant life. 1910.268 (c)(1)
    • Procedures to be followed in emergency situations. 1910.268 (c)(2)
    • First-Aid Training, including artifical respiration. 1910.268 (c)(3)
  • Only persons trained in the operations of derricks can operate one. 1910.268 (j)(4)(iv)(D)
  • Employees will be trained in necessary precautions when using high voltages to locate trouble or test cables. 1910.268 (l)(1)
  • Employees engaged in line clearing will be instructed that: 1910.268 (q)(1)(ii)
    • Direct contact is made when any part of the body touches any energized conductor or other energized fixture/apperatus. 1910.268 (q)(1)(A)
    • Indirect contact is made when any part of the body touches any object in contact with an energized electrical condoctor or other energized fixture/apperatus. 1910.268 (q)(1)(B)
    • Indirect contact can be made through conductive tools, tree branches, trucks, equipment, or other objects or as a result of communication wires, cables, fences, or guy wires accidently energized. 1910.268 (q)(1)(C)
    • Electric shock will occur when an employee, either by direct or indirect contact with an energized conductor, tree limb, tool, equipment, or other object, provides a path for the flow of electricity to a grounded object or to the ground itself. Simultaneous contact with two energized conductors will also cause electric shock which may reult in serious or fatal injury. 1910.268 (q)(1)(D)

Electrical Power Generation, Transmission, and Distribution - 1910.269

  • Employees will be trained in safety-related work practices, safety procedures, and other safety requirements. Employees will also be trained in any other safety practices, including applicable emergency procedures. 1910.269 (a)(2)(i)
  • Qualified employees will be trained and competent in: 1910.269 (a)(2)(ii)
    • Skills and techniques to distinguish exposed live parts from other parts of electrical equipment. 1910.269 (a)(2)(ii)(A)
    • Skills and techniques necessary to determine nominal voltage of exposed live parts. 1910.269 (a)(2)(ii)(B)
    • Minimum approch distances specified n this section corresponding to the voltages to which the employee is exposed. 1910.269 (a)(2)(ii)(C)
    • Proper use of special precautionary techniques, PPE, insulating and shielding materials, and insulated tools for working on/near exposed energized parts of electrical equipment. 1910.269 (a)(2)(ii)(D)

Grain Handling Facilities - 1910.272

  • Employer will provide training at least annually and when changes in job assignment will expose them to new hazards. All employees prior to starting work will be trained in at least: 1910.272 (e)(1)
    • General safety, including recognition and preventative measures for hazards related to dust accumulations and common ignition sources. 1910.272 (e)(1)(i)
    • Specific procedures and safety practices related to their job tasks. 1910.272 (e)(1)(ii)

Subpart S - Electrical Safety- Related Work Practices

Training - 1910.332

  • Employees will be trained in the safety-related work practices required by 1910.331-1910.335 that pertain to their to their job assignment. 1910.332 (b)(1)
  • Employees who are not qualified persons will be trained and familiar with any electrically related safety practices which are necessary for thier safety. 1910.332 (b)(2)
  • Qualified persons will, at a minimum, be trained in and familiar with: 1910.332 (b)(3)
    • Skills and techniques to distinguish exposed live parts from other parts of electic equipment. 1910.332 (b)(3)(i)
    • Skills and techniques to determine to nominal voltage of exposed live parts. 1910.332 (b)(3)(ii)
    • Clearance distances specified in 1910.1333(c) and the corresponding voltages to which the qualified person will be exposed. 1910.332 (b)(3)(iii)
  • Training will be of the classroom or on-the-job type. The degree of training provided will be determined by the risk to the employee. 1910.332 (c)

Subpart T - Commercial Diving Operations

Qualifications of Dive Team - 1910.410

  • Each dive team member will have experience or training necessary to perform assigned tasks. 1910.410 (a)(1)
  • Each dive team member will have the training or experience in: 1910.410 (a)(2)
    • Use of tools, equipment, and systems relevent to the assigned tasks. 1910.410 (a)(2)(i)

  • All dive team members will be trainied in CPR and first-aid (American Red Cross standard course or equivalent). 1910.410 (a)(3)
  • Dive team members who are exposed to or control the exposure of others to hyperbaric conditions will be trained in diving-related physics and physiology. 1910.410 (a)(4)
  • Limited additional tasks may be assigned to an employee undergoing training provided that they are performed under direct supervision of an experienced dive team member. 1910.410 (b)(1)
  • The designated person-in-charge will have the experience and training in the conduct of the assigned diving operations. 1910.410 (c)(2)

Subpart Z - Toxic and Hazardous Substances

Asbestos - 1910.1001

  • Employer will train each employee who is exposed to airborne concentrations of asbestos at or above PEL in accordance with this section. 1910.1001 (j)(7)(i)
  • Training will be done prior to inital assignment and annually thereafter. 1910.1001 (j)(7)(ii)
